Tyrosol

Synonyms: 4-Hydroxyphenylethanol, 4-Hydroxyphenethyl alcohol, 2-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)ethanol

Tyrosol (4-Hydroxyphenylethanol, 4-Hydroxyphenethyl alcohol, 2-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)ethanol) is an antioxidant that is naturally present in several foods such as wines and green tea and is present most abundantly in olives. Tyrosol is a derivative of phenethyl alcohol. Tyrosol attenuates pro-inflammatory cytokines from cultured astrocytes and NF-κB activation. Anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects.

Biological Activity

Description Tyrosol (4-Hydroxyphenylethanol, 4-Hydroxyphenethyl alcohol, 2-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)ethanol) is an antioxidant that is naturally present in several foods such as wines and green tea and is present most abundantly in olives. Tyrosol is a derivative of phenethyl alcohol. Tyrosol attenuates pro-inflammatory cytokines from cultured astrocytes and NF-κB activation. Anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects.
Targets
NF-κB [2]
In vitro
In vitro

Tyrosol (Tyr) suppresses TNF-α-induced intracellular production of ROS, depletion of GSH, and down-regulation of genes encoding antioxidant enzymes in hECs. Tyr inhibits palmitic acid-induced oxidative stress in human liver HepG2 cells[1].

Cell Research Cell lines hECs (human endothelial cells)
Concentrations 0-200 μM
Incubation Time 48 h
Method

hECs are cultured in 96-well plates in eight replicate sets at a density of 104 cells per well in the presence of Tyr or its metabolites at the indicated concentrations for 48 h. Cell viability is assayed based on the ability of live cells to reduce methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tretrazolium bromide (MTT).

In Vivo
In vivo

After ingestion, Tyrosol (Tyr) undergoes extensive first pass intestinal/hepatic metabolism[1].

Method for preparing DMSO master liquid: mg drug pre-dissolved in μL DMSO ( Master liquid concentration mg/mL, Please contact us first if the concentration exceeds the DMSO solubility of the batch of drug. )

Method for preparing in vivo formulation: Take μL DMSO master liquid, next addμL PEG300, mix and clarify, next addμL Tween 80, mix and clarify, next add μL ddH2O, mix and clarify.

Method for preparing in vivo formulation: Take μL DMSO master liquid, next add μL Corn oil, mix and clarify.

Note: 1. Please make sure the liquid is clear before adding the next solvent.
2. Be sure to add the solvent(s) in order. You must ensure that the solution obtained, in the previous addition, is a clear solution before proceeding to add the next solvent. Physical methods such
as vortex, ultrasound or hot water bath can be used to aid dissolving.
