Description

Methacholine (Mecholyl, Acetyl-β-methylcholine) is a synthetic choline ester that acts as a non-selective muscarinic receptor agonist in the parasympathetic nervous system but has little effects on the nicotinic receptors.

Methacholine induced modest effects on basal interleukin (IL)-8 and -6 secretion, whereas the secretion of RANTES, eotaxin, vascular endothelial growth factor-A and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 was not affected^[1].
