Biological Activity

Description GSH (Glutathione) acts as an antioxidant, a free radical scavenger and a detoxifying agent. It is a tripeptide comprised of three amino acids (cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine) present in most mammalian tissue.
In vitro

Glutathione (GSH) is able to recover the meiotic failure induced by heavy metal cadmium (Cd) exposure through suppressing the excessive ROS level, DNA damage accumulation and apoptotic incidence in porcine oocytes.[2]
In vivo

Oral GSH can increase GSH concentrations in several tissues following GSH depletion.[1]

    Cadmium chloride is dissolved in PBS and diluted in TCM-199 medium to a final concentration of 0.4, 2, 10 and 50 μM, respectively. GSH is dissolved in PBS and diluted in TCM-199 medium to a final concentration of 1, 2 and 4 mM, respectively. Both cadmium chloride and GSH are supplemented to TCM-199 medium immediately before culture.
