Description D-Arginine is an inhibitor of arginine decarboxylase(ADC) to regulate putrescine biosynthesis.

In vitro

D-arginine increases ctrulline formation and ornithine uptake in mitochondria of isolated rat hepatocytes, also inhibits respiratory control in liver mitochondria with glutamate-malate.[2]
In vivo

Intracerebroventricular administration of D-arginine can block the antinociceptive effects of L-arginine, in the paw pressure test.[3]
