Clear solution
5% DMSO 95% Corn oil
0.58mg/ml Taking the 1 mL working solution as an example, add 50 μL of 11.6 mg/ml clear DMSO stock solution to 950 μL of corn oil and mix evenly. The mixed solution should be used immediately for optimal results.
Clear solution
5%DMSO 40%PEG300 5%Tween80 50%ddH2O
1.75mg/ml Taking the 1 mL working solution as an example, add 50 μL of 35 mg/ml clarified DMSO stock solution to 400 μL of PEG300, mix evenly to clarify it; add 50 μL of Tween80 to the above system, mix evenly to clarify; then continue to add 500 μL of ddH2O to adjust the volume to 1 mL. The mixed solution should be used immediately for optimal results.
* <1 mg/ml means slightly soluble or insoluble.
* Please note that Selleck tests the solubility of all compounds in-house, and the actual solubility may differ slightly from published values. This is normal and is due to slight batch-to-batch variations.
* Room temperature shipping (Stability testing shows this product can be shipped without any cooling measures.)

Biological Activity

Description Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin indicated for the prevention and treatment of scurvy.
In vitro

Ascorbate when combined with copper rapidly reduces the viscosity of DNA solutions and has exhibited some carcinostatic effects on transplanted sarcoma 180 tumours in mice. [1]

Exposure of HL-60 cells to increasing concentrations of H2O2 results in dose-dependent intracellular accumulation of peroxides, which is accompanied by a decrease in intracellular ascorbic acid and an increase in apoptosis. Ascorbic acid loading also provides strong protection from apoptosis associated with serum- and glucose-free culture of HL-60 cells. [2]

Vitamin C is found to protect GSH-depleted HL-60 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Vitamin C inhibits the formation of ROS in both normal and GSH-depleted cells. [3]

Ascorbate (1 mM) generates 161 mM H2O2 in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium and induces apoptosis in 50% of HL60 cells, whereas in RPMI 1640 only 83 mM H2O2 is produced and no apoptosis is detected. [4]

In vivo

Treatment of rats with Vitamin C 10 min prior to the cisplatin inhibits cisplatin-mediated damage. The enhanced serum creatinine levels which are indicative of renal injury shows a significant reduction with the three doses of Vitamin C tested. [5]
